Dora “Arlene” (Baker) Tyner, 84, of Delphi, passed away at 11:25 am, on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Heritage Healthcare in West Lafayette. Dora was raised in Monticello, In, by the late Howard and Cleo (Edison) Baker. Arlene was born on March 14, 1939 in Missouri. Arlene graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1957, and later went on to marry the love of her life, James Milton Tyner, on July 7, 1957 in Monticello, In, who preceded her in death in 1997.
Arlene attended Warners Beauty College, and became a licensed beautician. Arlene later went on to be a co-owner and operator of the Shiloh Drive In, for several years and then went on to be a co-owner at JT’s Family Restaurant and eventually retiring. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Clinton County. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling out west with her family, having leisure time at lake Freeman with her friends, playing euchre, and watching movies. She was known for being an avid QVC shopper.
Surviving Arlene are her sons; James (Linda) Tyner of Delphi, John Tyner of Cincinnati, OH, Jeffrey of Lafayette, sister; Echo Scott of Yeoman, In, grandchildren; Nick (Laura) Tyner, Brittany Tyner, Jennie (Damon) Yocum, Emily Tyner, and 4 great grandchildren.
Arlene was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter; Juliane Rachel Tyner.
A funeral service will be held on Friday July 7, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home located at 121 N. Union St, Delphi, with Pastor Bob Duke officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Monticello. Memorial contributions may be made in Arlene’s honor to the Central Indiana Blood Bank.
