Earl Edward Franek, 84, of Camden, IN, passed away peacefully at home on June 23, 2023, at 2:00 A.M. He was born January 6, 1939, in Cicero, Illinois, to the late John and Dorothy (Vasumpour) Franek. In 1947 his family moved to North Judson, IN, where Earl grew up. He graduated from North Judson High School in 1957.
Earl was employed with Gary US Steel Mills, Ford Stamping Plant, and worked for Northern Indiana Public Service Company for 33 years prior to retirement in 1995. He married Colleen (Kerkhove) Franek of Camden, IN, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi, IN, on December 28, 1960, and she survives.
Earl was a union member and served on the Camden Town Board for four years. He enjoyed nature, bird watching, and tending to his flowers and landscaping. He also had a passion for boating, fishing, and camping. He loved his family and looked forward to spending time together.
Earl is survived by his daughters; Rene’ (Jeff) Viney of Delphi, Rita (David) Clifford of West Lafayette, IN, grandchildren; Jared (Morgan) Anderson of Delphi, Colleen (Robert) Griffin-Duncan of Belgrade, MT, and Katie (Garrett) Gee of Wichita, KS, and 6 great grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by a sister; Joan Chesak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday June 29, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 207 N Washington St, Delphi, with Rev. Fr. Chris Miller the celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Delphi. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
