James R. Kremer, 96, formerly of Delphi passed away at University Place in West Lafayette on August 7, 2022. He was born on Nov. 12, 1925 to the late John E. and Pauline (Riecke) Kremer in Chalmers. He was a 1943 graduate of Chalmers High School.
He served in the Navy during WWII and was a Machinist 3rd Class on the USS Fulton.
He married Elizabeth L. Bossung on April 23, 1949 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds. Betty preceded him in death on May 31, 2022.
He retired from farming and was a school bus driver for Delphi Schools for over 16 years.
He enjoyed woodworking and playing golf.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi and the Delphi American Legion. He was also an innovator in the swine industry. He was a co-founder of the Carroll Co. Pork Producers Org; he was a FmHA director as well as an ASCS (FSA) county committeeman and also served on the Carroll County soil and water conservation district board of supervisors.
He is survived by his children: Karen O’Farrell (James) of the Villages, FL, Linda Winger of Lafayette, Patricia Rector (Dean) of Marion, Iowa, Madonna Starkey (Mike) of Lafayette, Lori Richards (Steve) of Granger, Kevin Kremer (Bernadette) of Delphi; 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; sister, Marlene Genovese of Florida.
Along with his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers: Charles and Don and sister, Maxine.
Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 10:30 am until the noon funeral mass. Father Chris Miller officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Delphi.
Memorial contributions in Jim’s memory may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alzheimer’s Association or the Arthritis Foundation.
