Ruth E. Cox, 91, of Delphi, passed away at her home, surrounded by family on Dec. 14, 2022. She was born on Dec. 11, 1931 in Valparaiso, Indiana to the late Chester and Hazel (Brooke) Sines.
She married Charlie Garrison in March of 1950 and he preceded her in death in June 1966. She married her Richard P. Cox on Sept. 8, 1967 and he survives her.
Ruth worked over 40 years at Peters-Revington in Delphi in a variety of positions. She finished her career as quality control supervisor in 2000, talked into retiring only to take care of 2 of her grandkids, Kaylyn and Korbin, for the next 8 years.
Ruth loved her church and serving the Lord. She attended First Apostolic Church in Delphi, where she helped as secretary, and was involved in bible study, scripture reading and led songs. She enjoyed her mission work and serving in several children’s’ charities. Ruth enjoyed flower gardening, puzzles, and word search, and loved being with her family.
Along with her husband, Richard Cox, she is survived by her sons: Wayne Garrison (Tara) of Monticello, Brian Garrison (Brenda) of Delphi and Eric Cox (Michelle) of Flora; 8 Grandchildren: Sonya Rhody (Jeff), Wendy (Travis) Powers, Allen Muscarella, Jennifer Lyell, Erin Jubril, Kyle (Laura) Garrison, Kaylyn Cox, and Korbin Cox;7 great grandchildren: Alekzandr Rhody, Samantha Rhody, Julianna Muscarella, Kaden Jubril, Mason Jubril, Wade Garrison, and Hudson Cox; sisters-in-law: Mary Harris, Jean Reed, and Judy Ingram, and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Cox and Bill Cox.
Ruth was preceded by her parents; 5 sisters: Arlen Jones, Betty Hopper, Bonnie Hamilton, Katherine Draper, Mary Hyatt, and brother-in-law, Steve Cox.
Visitation will be from noon until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service at Davidson Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022. Lee Howe will officiate. A private burial will follow in IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg, Indiana.
Memorial contributions in Ruth’s memory may be made to the donor’s choice of church or children’s organizations.
